A Married Couple Worries About Their Irresponsible And Excessive Drinking And Then Enhances Their Relationship As They Work On Their Alcohol Difficulties

Sarah and Jerry have been married for eight years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they deliberately developed an extraordinarily exciting social life.

The essential difficulty, it needs to be stressed, is that just about everything they do with their family and friends somehow involves drinking. For example, all of the sporting events, happy hours, parties with friends, dinner engagements, and family get-togethers they frequent somehow include drinking.

Sarah and Jerry Begin to Perceive Some Unmistakable Alcohol Related Issues That Come From Their Abusive Drinking

If they were sporadic drinkers, this wouldn’t be a big issue. Because they drink in an excessive manner, nevertheless, they are starting to perceive some clearly identifiable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

As an illustration, just a few days ago Jerry received a third DWI and has been shirking responsibilities at work because of alcohol-related health issues. Furthermore, Jerry’s last two or three performance assessments at his place of employment have been less than laudable and he has started to fail to remember what he does or says the times that he drinks. Lastly, Jerry has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to agonize over his drinking difficulties.

Not unlike Jerry’s situation, Sarah has been feeling disheartened with things in her life and to come to grips with these feelings, she has been drinking more repeatedly than any time in the past seven months. What is more, Sarah has been experiencing quite a few painful migraines and having terrible hangovers because of her drinking. Lastly, Sarah has been feeling significantly less active when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late virtually every Monday, and she has been receiving some strong criticism from her coworkers, friends, relatives, and family members about her heavy drinking.

Watching the TV and Inadvertently Finding An Interesting Program About the Signs of Alcohol Dependency

One Sunday evening while watching the television, Jerry and Sarah stumbled upon an interesting documentary about the signs of alcoholism.

This television documentary was a real bombshell to Sarah and Jerry because many of the alcoholism signs that were highlighted appeared as if they were unwaveringly related to more than a few of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been going through.

A Truthful Talk About Drinking Behavior Unearths Alcohol Related Legal, Employment, Health, Relationship, and Financial Problems

After watching the television program, Jerry and Sarah determined that they needed to have a truthful talk about their drinking behavior. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social pursuits somehow involved drinking, that they were drinking irresponsibly, and that as a couple, they were starting to make note of alcohol related legal, financial, relationship, employment, and health problems for the first time in their lives.

With thoughts of the television program still running through her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could mean that they are dependent on alcohol or possibly becoming alcoholic. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s question and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the doctors at the nearby alcohol abuse rehab facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking difficulties.

Dealing With Your Drinking Problems Just Might Decrease Your Sense of Dread and Give You Some Serenity

Ironically, although their drinking behavior hadn’t yet changed, it was noticeable that Sarah and Jerry were at least dealing with their drinking issues, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in finding out how they could substantially lessen or do away with the drinking-related difficulties that had begun to go from bad to worse.

A Fortified Sense of Communication and Commitment

When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that evening, they determined that the next day, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol abuse treatment facility located downtown just outside of the business district. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to prevail over the alcohol-related problems that had manifested themselves in their lives, they actually had the most energizing night’s sleep they could recollect in the last eight weeks.

Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and observed how easy it is to decrease one’s anxiety and truly experience some tranquility by handling one’s problems head-on and making up one’s mind to do something affirmative about them. Isn’t it wonderful how one’s commitment and communication improve and how a relationship can be enhanced when difficulties are faced rather than ignoring them?
